Erection of a Wesleyan Church.
With reference to the 3rd par. of G. Baven's desp. under acknowledgement I would observe, that the decision regarding the annual grants to the Anglican Community of Hongkong did not affect the question of granting sites free for religious purposes; indeed since that decision was come to the grant of a site for a church on the Peak was sanctioned in Lord Kimberley's despatch no. 116 of 5 June 1882.
3. As therefore the present application is supported by this Military and Naval authorities, I am of opinion that it should, if possible, be acceded to by the Colonial Executive Council.
